Though I think that's a side effect (tags I believe were created for discoverability), the fact that you can mute any tags you come across does indeed help with creating a safer space for everyone.
And yes, I do think that Fedi is the only platform where there's any kind of consistency in tagging and CWing anything, including stuff that can trigger phobias or make people uncomfortable, and porn in particular.
Never saw that on the bird site, nor on BSky.
