so the vnc resolver bot got suspended from botsin.space, sucks but i guess they have a fair point.

i just made the bot cuz i wanted to see how easy it was to make a mastodon bot, i never expected it to gain 1.4K followers, that's pretty insane. so thank you for that.

maybe the bot will come back when i start hosting a fedi instance again, idk yet.
but yeah, thanks for the short run we had.

Email from botsin.space with subject "Your account @vncresolver@botsin.space has been suspended" You can no longer use your account, and your profile and other data are no longer accessible. You can still login to request a backup of your data until the data is fully removed in about 30 days, but we will retain some basic data to prevent you from evading the suspension. Hi there, I'm basically fine with the concept of this bot, but the fact of the matter is that it's sort of problematic once you show it to actual human beings. A lot of people are pretty upset/worried by it, and I've seen actual incidents of harassment/spam caused by it, so I don't really have a choice but to shut it down. Sorry about that.

@brew It was fun seeing it, but it's fair - I think it should be allowed to exist, but I also don't blame botsin admin for not wanting to take responsibility over hosting it.

i kinda agree with the suspension assessment; the bot is just a simple scanner, and shows data to fedi like that, and there's no way to not let your stuff (or any other stuff) be shown through it

i dont really see the added value to have the bot be on our instance like that, at least not now, sorry
