Just woke up & trying to catch up with the questions, so I hope this hasn't been asked already.
I notice you're a Star Trek fan. What did you think of the recent Section 31 movie? I had such high hopes for it since I'm a big Michelle Yeoh fan, plus also love Kacey Rohl from the Magicians, but I felt like it didn't live up to its potential.

What's next for the Fictional Fascism series? What are you most excited (if that's the right word) to explore?

Hi, glad to see you that you’ve gotten your day!
A writing question for you. What character, who’s the most unlike you, have you most enjoyed writing, and why?
@gahlearner asks:
Where did you learn book binding? Can you elaborate a bit about the process, or have a picture of the finished book/journal?
Sure. I more or less followed this [www.instructables.com] process. I'm incapable of following a recipe without making changes. I used waxed thread for the sewn part, PVA glue for the spine, some kind of heavy card stock instead of corrugated cardboard, and I used clamps with boards instead of stacks of books. Clamped boards are safer because you're not risking glue getting onto a finished book. Otherwise, it's just stylistic choices or supply availability.
#ScribesAndMakers #TTMD @EveHasWords Hi Eve! Random question: If you could add or remove a single technological innovation to/from the Star Trek canon, what would you change?
#ScribesAndMakers #ketchup 16, Which creative activity would you like to pursue but can't?
Large land art installations and architecture are on my list. For which I would need space and a budget. Which hasn't happened yet, but I don't rule it out. It'll cross my path one day.
May 17, Talk To Me Day
As always, I'll run ahead and post my question for #TTMD early, since it's already the 17th where I live.
Please everyone, remember to tag @EveHasWords by typing the @ and first letters of the name, since copying the handle won't work. Please also tag the two hashtags, #TTMD and #ScribesAndMakers. Have fun!

#ScribesAndMakers Day 16: Which creative activity would you like to pursue but can't?
I have tools and materials to return to fiber arts (spinning, weaving, crochet, cross-stitch) but my head is too full of story at the moment. The time will come...
I can't actually draw or paint -- partly due to aphantasia -- though I can do layout and design (my covers have used reworked photos of objects from souvenir shops). It might be nice to be able to imagine cover illos. But I got nuthin.

Anything collaborative has so far escaped my abilities. Some day?
#ScribesAndMakers 16 May: Which creative activity would you like to pursue but can't?
Too many to list, but fiber arts have to top the most "can't" list. The time required to develop fine motor skills is far higher than the damage threshold of my skin & joints.
How low is that threshold? Welp, I have to ration keyboard time to prevent developing eczema on my fingertips. And if I forget to rotate which side I mouse from for more than 2 days, I end up with tendonitis.
Bodies are FUN.

I always wanted to be way better at music than I am. My ears just aren't good enough. If I work *really hard*, I can be passable at music. The effort-to-reward ratio is really discouraging.
#ScribesAndMakers 16: Which creative activity would you like to pursue but can't?
I have a tendency to want to Do All The Things, so if I see someone doing something creative I have the urge to try it myself. Examples would include, but not be limited to: spinning wool, weaving, playing a new musical instrument, needle felting, embroidery and many others.
However, I know that it would be a passing fad. I don't have the time or the space for new hobbies. I'll stick to writing and photography.

Which creative activity would you like to pursue but can't?
I'd like to learn to code: create computer programs.
Years ago, when the state of that art was much simpler, I played around with it, particularly with things that were called "talkies," which were kind of socially based text games where users just hung out. I created rooms & functions. Nowadays, things are so much more complex I doubt I'd get my head around it.
A very interesting band could be formed out of today's musical ambitions.
Erhu, didjeridoo, bass, mandolin, guitar, keys, and plenty of singers ...just need some percussion.
...I said interesting ..I didn't say good.
#ScribesAndMakers 16. Which creative activity would you like to pursue but can't?
I'd like to learn to play the erhu. I doubt I could find shops around here that sell it, then ordering one from abroad would be even more expensive. More importantly, I don't think I have the energy to dedicate to this pursuit, not at the present.
But it's something I'd like to try in the future.
Also Ba Gua Zhang (considering martial arts as creative activities). Would love to take some classes, too.
#ScribesAndMakers May16. Which creative activity would you like to pursue but can't?
I'd love to be better at graphic design. I don't know that I can't pursue it but I just don't have a good eye for it at all. There's a reason I stick to words.

can’t…
I’d rather think in terms of won’t, because then I’m making the choice & taking responsibility. There’s something comforting in that.
The visual arts appeal to me, like drawing, or exploring painting, but at this point, I’m unwilling to make the investment, or sacrifice time writing.
I’ve set my course. I’ll stand by it. Dabbling will suffice as a substitute for not living as a traveling photographer or writer. I made my choice.
#ScribesAndMakers 16May—Which creative activity would you like to pursue but can't?
I'd like to do more sculpture/pottery, because I suck at it but it's really good for the kids. I actually have kiln access, though not wheel access. Alas, I cannot start a pottery habit, lest I end up with objects that I can't get rid of fast enough.

For a long time I wanted to learn to play bass. I suppose part of me would still like to. It's not so much I can't as it's not enough of a priority for me to put the time, effort, and money into it.
