Michael Karcher (#OSINT #ReverseEngineer) about #xz #backdoor #obfuscating #regex:

"the code does not contain any ASCII strings, neither in clear text nor in obfuscated form. Instead, it recognizes all relevant strings using one single deterministic finite automaton..." (DFA ~= regex)

"... script that decodes the tables for the table-driven DFA and outputs the strings recognized by it accompanied with the "ID" assigned to the terminal accepting state"

Hey wetdry.world! I just moved here from mstdn.party.

I'm a (mostly , , and ), , , and fan. Follow me if you're into tech-shenanigans, mostly involving stuff.

I moved my account here since mstdn.party has had a lot of technical issues for me, and cuz I just like the vibe of this instance better.

The extra features of Chuckya/Glitch-soc seem very cool too! Excited to be here.

Hey Mastodon!

You're supposed to make an #introduction post stuffed with a bunch of obnoxious hashtags like it's 2008, right?

I'm a #programmer (mostly #cpp #c and #csharp), #modder, #software #reverseengineer, and #sonicthehedgehog fan.

I do a lot of #reverseengineering (mostly of #sega games), and develop custom libraries/tools to mod them.

Also trying to learn #japanese cuz I'm a fucking #weeb

Follow me if you want to see code, modding, shenanigans, "the sonic", L takes, and trash memes.

whats this weird #gameboy game? it's an official flash cart that Nintendo actually sold in Japan. You could plug it in to a kiosk, pay a couple hundred yen, and swap games in and out

it's got a chip in that I can't find any documentation on (MX15002UCA). definitely some custom silicon from Big N. I think its one of the last cart mappers to not be #reverseengineer ed. makes sense too, its so niche and doesn't hold a lot of value for things like emulation.

But I wanna learn how it works!
