I still think about the time GitHub announced they were mandating 2FA and a vocal minority lost it [www.reddit.com]

Like, I remember seeing someone post a blog post calling out GitHub for prioritizing the “software supply chain” over the users simply because they included that statement in the announcement or something like that. Almost also upset because a lot of companies rely on GitHub as well.

I only browse HN for wild takes like this and because its front page is slightly more interesting than Reddit despite most of it being incomprehensible.

So called “security enthusiasts” when the free market has to take a backseat for security.

This honestly summarizes so many arguments for and against attestation

Like, yeah it sucks your custom Android ROM can't enter the mass market, even if it follows everything about Android security 100%. But also the ROM's that just give full unbridled access to the root system as well still has it's practical risks. And it's still not something an organization is going to give you just so you can keep your custom Quick Settings theme.
