@jessienab There are good reasons to avoid it (I use it only as a last resort) but Amazon Music is also worth mentioning I think.

@robby Amazon Music I have been wondering about, but is their music sold DRM free, or does it require some sort of app or convoluted process to download/stream?

Requiring an account is not a restriction on a service being included on the list btw since many sites it's easier to have one than to not :)

If I buy an album on Amazon Music, do I get pure FLAC files I can put on any device that supports that format; or can I convert them to any lossy format I want without issue?

Mainly I feel not inclined to include them only because of the whole deal about e-books being DRMed, thus figuring that audio would be DRMed as well... but any info is appreciated!

@jessienab I had to double check the filetype that I have gotten - It’s been MP3 for what I have gotten from Amazon Music. The quality has been perfectly fine to my ear, but I am no expert on the matter. I don’t know if they provide FLAC / lossless files.

You can see the purchase options on any listings from here for example though: https://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Songs/zgbs/dmusic/digital-music-track/. Clicking through a few, they all have MP3 download options. That is what I have done for some things that I haven’t been able to find elsewhere.

Yeah I totally get not wanting to support Amazon for being a bad company in general, but I think they actually handle music reasonably (besides whatever their streaming is, don’t really care to look into that).
