a VERY underrated postprocessing effect in games is screen-wide (very large radius) yet slight bloom, to tint the whole scene with a prominent bright color

I'm trying it in gmod rn and it really helps to ground viewmodels into strongly-colored scenes

on that note, my bloom settings below; do note how gmod has sometimes noticeable artifacting with bloom radius above ~18px, I tried messing with values above 50px or increasing the number of passes but neither of those things help. do lmk if you know any way to mitigate or fix that

those gmod bloom settings can work extremely well with addons like CSM that rework the game's lighting, too bad CSM at high settings really degrades performance lol

comparison because people like pictures

bloom+CSM has flashbang sand because the map (gm_facade) isn't optimized for CSM

all mentions of CSM in this thread refer to this addon [steamcommunity.com]

@driftini god I love making GMOD look like a mid-2010's FPS game so much

@nerm_nelly do you have any tips to share about that? I'm all ears

@driftini I usually use reshade, CSM, and a lot of other gameplay and visual enhancement addons

@nerm_nelly can you give me the addon list? feeling like wasting hours messing with those

@driftini I don't have one rn as I just cleaned out my addons list tho. sorry

@nerm_nelly ah nevermind then, bad coincidence lol
