I mean it's kinda jank but you *can* just join a call with people and play like that, like most ttrpgs are just talking and then each player rolls a die. for battles you can just do theater of the mind or use virtual tabletops like Roll20. Like it's maybe not ideal but the The Adventure Zone guys did it for their podcast and it was really good for a while.
