I'm slightly surprised the offender didn't get a whole life order in this case (3 #murders using an illegally obtained #firearm) even though he was young, but he will remain in #prison for longer than I am likely to be alive!

I still think there's an anomaly with #sentencing for #murder in #England / #Wales - those who target people known to them seem to get get shorter #sentences than those who attack strangers

Donald Trump has taken January 6 denialism to a new level:
Hosting an awards ceremony dedicated to the Capitol riot.

On September 5, a “#J6 #Awards #Gala” will be held at Trump’s golf club in Bedminister, New Jersey.

The event will include a raffle to win a plaque recognizing the “Justice For All” song performed by Trump and the “#J6 #Prison #Choir,”
-- which briefly reached the Billboard Music Chart.

The choir is made up of defendants serving #prison #sentences for their actions in the Capitol in 2021.

#SCOTUS’ ruling has the potential to affect the #convictions & #sentences of a small set of #insurrectionists — around 27 — who are serving time in #prison for only this #felony. It also could impact about 110 more who are awaiting #trial or sentencing, acc/to prosecutors. In addition, the ruling could affect #Trump’s stalled trial for illegally trying to remain in power after his 2020 defeat; 2 of the 4 charges he faces are based on the #obstruction statute, & he could move for dismissal.

This is exactly why I have struggled to adapt my hashtagging practices to really work on Mastodon. “On top of all that, in-post hashtags feel thirsty. After a decade of Twitter and Instagram, I associate them firmly with spammers and #blessed clout-chasing thinkfluencers, #shoehorning that #pound #symbol into the #middle of #sentences to reach more #eyeballs.” theverge.com/23673125/mastodon

My revision class is working on sentences. So many ways to think about writing sentences!

Like how they can mimic the actions that are happening--like making them quick & explosive or long & meandering according to the action. Not every sentence--that can get tedious--but some. Or else I think about how the construction can mimic the way the narrator thinks.

How do you think about sentences?
