The silver lining of the "AI" hype is the increased aversion that more and more people are having to the overly shiny, phony mainstream internet and how all of that is pushing more underground, independent weirdo creators to thrive and to make REAL things of human value on the web, be they blogs, personal websites, indie services, or back to the small forums of old.

Attracting fury with my post about digital gardens was an unexpected thing lmao.

Look, I am not telling you how to #blog. The fact that this misunderstanding arose is because the person didn't read my post where I clearly said that blogging evolved over time, and it's now about performative self promotion. Sure, not everyone does this, or use blogs this way, but there's no denying with the SEO demands, the social media sharing, it's all very demanding on the post being complete and perfect.

Meanwhile I explain that digital gardens is a different way to put your thoughts on the internet. It is less performative and less sculptured. It can be very freeing.

Every once in a while, I read my old blog posts that link to other articles or blogs. 99% of those sites are now offline or show a domain-for-sale page. It kind of makes me sad. Most of my own websites are still online after 20+ years. I wonder why they gave up.

That being said, this instance will be online forever - I'll make sure of it. Even after my passing, I want it to live on. My websites have survived even when hosting companies went bankrupt, and so will this instance.

i need more RSS feeds. especially programming and/or linux ones.
