Man is there some kinda service that let's people show what DVDs or Blu-Rays and such they own, that they could then offer for loan to other people, on a trust based system? Perhaps you have to meet in person, or perhaps it's local-only in that sense?

It could perhaps be shippable to other cities/countries if the other person has enough credit?

Like... fill in the gaps where libraries cannot (and often many libraries simply cannot accept more content, because they do not have the space; I know some local ones only took in media that was released in the last year sort of thing)

I'm thinking like a Peer-to-peer worldcat... just without yknow actually sharing the files that one could get in "trouble" for doing.

@hex @LaserdiscTurtle any thoughts on this? Anything coming to mind?

@jessienab
I have a friend group plex server for digital access. But I didn't set it up so I couldn't tell you how to start 🙃 i just know it's possible!

@jessienab Gosh libraries want SO BADLY to be able to offer more content to people but we have so few options in the digital space and the ones we do have are somewhat problematic. I feel like in my universe "other people's Plex servers" fills this gap but that doesn't really scale well.
