@darl sent me this, idk the original source
Edit:
I will take this opportunity
If you wanna lend me a hand at repairing some of my tech:
@ayo the fact that it happened this way is honestly kind of unbelivable
@Wearwolf it is intended as nothing more than a joke, if that wasn't obvious by the flaming car or the humourously complex gymnastics portrayed at the bottom in comparison to the top, or the fact that this clearly leans on FUD that misinformed people and/or disinformation campaigns spread.
@cyrus I understand it's a joke, that's kind of the problem?
My top two posts on the explorer tab were this and a post about how this might've happened because of a co-ordinated attempt to bully the maintainer into letting someone else take over.
Kind of doesn't feel like joking time. Especially a joke that frames these events as a win for open source.
That's the kind of attitude which leads people to think everything is fine and that nothing needs fixing
@Wearwolf that's fair.
@Wearwolf @cyrus The people that need to be serious about it are being serious about it, making jokes about a difficult situation is what create and maintain social links between members of a community. I'd argue that attempting to shut down people that make those jokes is just instauring an elitist atmosphere
@zaart @cyrus I'd argue a) That's not what elitist means, an elitist atmosphere would be saying only certain people are allowed to make jokes. B) I don't have the power to stop people from making jokes and C) I have no problem with people making jokes in general, I just don't think jokes that downplay and deflect away from the situation are a good idea.
