Yeah, getting screen readers to work on Wayland is really important.

Distros shouldn't default to a display manager that breaks accessibility features for the visually impaired.

Distros (at least the large ones) should give the user the choice between X11 and Wayland at install until this is fixed.

we also should be able to use orca out-of-the-box. the only distro I've tried where orca works pre installed is Linux Mint. openSUSE, Fedora KDE, arch and many others I haven't tried yet require you to download manually a lot of dependencies. at least arch does have an assistive installer.

@astra_underscore@wetdry.world I believe it's in the work, but it's clearly too soon to make wayland the only available option on major desktop environments. As much as I think the transition to wayland is necessary down the line, right now it puts a lot of users in a weird spot.
