I need a recommendation for a good new phone. I prefer something with open source firmware and which does not take your right to repair. What's your opinion on the latest #Fairphone, because it looks interesting? Do you have other recommendations?

Urgent Android help! SOLVED using @decibyte’s advice: I used Pixel 9a spoofing profile in Aurora Store. Thank you all! 🌻

I must install the Interrail Android app [play.google.com] in order to to activate my Interrail ticket, but Aurora Store tells me the app is not available for my device. How can I get it? I could maybe download the APK from Apkpure [m.apkpure.com], but I’d use it as the last resort, since I don’t know how trustworthy it is.

I’m using a Fairphone 5 running CalyxOS 6.8.21, and Aurora Store v4.7.2, downloaded from F-Droid all features are enabled in MicroG. Already tried uninstalling and reinstalling Aurora

How did the headphone jack fail? Honestly curious.

Headphone jacks used to be more fragile when they were made with metal springs in the olden days (not helical springs, just cantilevered metal pieces), but the last generation of headphone jack just used small pieces that deformed just enough to allow the TRRS jack to fit in snugly.

I was watching the video where the #Fairphone guys were explaining why they dropped the headphone jack from the FP4, and then Rossman's video where he ripped their excuses to shreds.

I'm not saying a headphone jack can't fail, just curious what happened to yours.

"Fairphone’s progress on core impact strategies, page 21.
Under the header "Levels of circularity: 8 R’s" are 3 shaded areas pointing to "KPI 2", "KPI 3", then "KPI 3 + 4". A banded arrow along the left bridges these areas, pointing upward. Its label is "Order of Priority" from "Low" to "High".

These point to KPI 2.
Refuse: prevent raw materials use.
Rethink: redesign product in view of circularity.

These point to KPI 3.
Reduce: decrease raw materials use.
Repair: maintain and repair product.
Refurbish: revive product.
Remanufacture: make new product from second hand.
Repurpose: re-use product but with other function.

This points to KPI 3 + 4.
Recycle: salvage material streams with highest possible value.

If that's not great alt text, idk what is.

Men okei @pilum @fivrelden og alle andre norske brukere av #eOS evt annen ikke-googla Android på #fairphone

Jeg er *så* nær å kaste Android på dør nå, men vil først sjekke status på enkelte apper/tjenester:

* BankID - yay or nay?
* Vipps - yay or nay?
* DNB Mobilbank - yay or nay?
* Fungerende alternativer til Google Wallet?
* Funker Jottacloud-appen?

Andre hensyn å ta før man plopper over?
