{"type":"rich","version":"1.0","author_name":"Attached: 1 video\n\nstarted working on a doohickey script that throws in Redpill onto production code-signed Windows 8 builds *without* breaking activation services, using legitimate licenses pulled directly from `WINMAIN_WIN8M3` 8102.101.\n\nthe flow goes like this:\n- first, it checks if our build is using production-signed Software Protection Platform policies. the script also checks if we're running what I call a \"no-no build\", builds that have the Windows 8 shell deliberately stripped out by Microsoft (specifically `WINMAIN` 8020 and EEAP >= 8049). if any of these checks fail, the script stops working.\n- then, it begins the pilling process. this involves dropping in the needed SPP license tokens needed to enable Redpill followed by installing and forcibly activating the associated product key for `Windows RP Protected Segment 01`, the highest possible Redpill tier which directly enables all Win8 shell features. for sanity reasons (and to ensure things are going right), the user is asked to check the `RP01` activation status in the Sofware Licensing Manager script (`SLMGR.VBS`).\n- the first reboot happens here, and puts the system into setup mode. Redlock gets invoked and installs the patched ShSxS library (which contains the assets and code paths used to make the Win8 shell work), followed by adding a custom BCD variable for the new Windows Recovery Environment/boot menu design (`BOOTMENUPOLICY STANDARD` (`0x250000c2 1`); done for the default and current boot entries) and some registry edits for enabling a few other Win8 features that Redlock doesn't normally enable.\n- the final reboot occurs at this point and reverts any changes made to put the OS in setup mode. log in, see new fancy Win8 shell, profit.\n\n**Edit:** An earlier version of this post mentioned a hard SKU requirement for `Prerelease` and `ServerDatacenter` due to the script's previous nature of installing an `RP01` policy variant intended for Build 2011 (shown in an earlier version of the demo).
