everybody atheist till they gotta update a bios

@lexd0g every day i see bios updates the more i want to get a ch341a (will never use it for more than installing seabios on her chromebook)

@loafofbread @lexd0g the ch341a is a tool for flashing the kind of chips usually used for your mobo firmware

it can recover boards from failed BIOS updates and for nerds like me you can use it to mess with the firmware and install alternative solutions (such as seabios, a really old piece of software that acts as legacy BIOS firmware)

@thememesniper @lexd0g I don't understand any computer stuff beyond minecraft command blocks, and I'm god with those, so enjoy this guy. He's your problem now. I don't know how to respond, so maybe he can simplify it in the most terrifying way when he gets back.

@loafofbread @lexd0g basically you plug the thing into your computer, and attach the clip to the chip and you can fix a failed bios update (or make it worse :3)

@thememesniper @lexd0g oh oh ch341a mentioned, remember to modify it before use because otherwise it can fry your chips!

@elsie @lexd0g @thememesniper I just realized I forgot to mod my CH341a the last time I had to hardware flash my T440p :blobcatderpy:

@nullenvk @lexd0g @thememesniper if it works, good, but sending 5 volts to a 3.3 volt chip's data lines is a risk I would rather not take
