@nano@yiff.life i much prefer going through my package manager. second only to that, appimage and bare binary kinda tie? and then flatpak last. snap doesn't even rank in my choices because i've had such awful experiences that it's literally more worth it to me to avoid apps i can only get as snap
flatpak is kinda weird imo. i like the idea of it but i've had lots of experiences with flatpak causing issues for me, i.e. lots of emulators are packaged without access to /mnt
where i have my big storage drive mounted (i swear it's like nothing even acknowledges /mnt
exists!!) so even if it's mild i'll often find myself needing to bust open flatseal just for that, or things get really fucky when it comes to flatpak apps that need to interact with non-flatpak apps i have installed (i have had so so many issues using anki in its flatpak form that relate to this, to the point that i'm often tempted to try compiling it myself again so i don't have to use the anki flatpak lol)
