fedi is weird you go "touched grass today. now my hand is green. i like being green. it makes me feel shrek euphoria"
and someone with a distro icon emoji in their username comes up in your replies with "well systemd developers also touch grass occasionally and they prevent me from using my posix shell clone written in assembly to boot up my fully deblobbed thinkpad i bought second hand in mesopotamia :/"
and like yeah good for you or sorry that happened but i'm not sure why you felt the need to comment that under my post
@kopper I think this is a good occasion to mention that I got my wife a ThinkPad yesterday, it's second hand
@Xtrems876
Hopefully not from that scumbag Ea-Nasir
@kopper
@Xtrems876 @kopper the laptop or the wife? (Second hand)
@kopper yeah but openrc doesn't run on grass so is there really a point if i can't have a debloated libre blob-free artix installation running on it
@kopper i'm the current caretaker of a fully deblobbed thinkpad, and my boots touched grass today. i'm compelled to reply.
@kopper fuck, now I wanna see a Thinkpad with cuneiform keyboard layout
@kopper @jalefkowit If the initial prompt was not a nerd honeypot I don’t know what is.
@kopper A second-hand laptop from Mesopotamia?
It's a trap! The cuneiform symbols are the blobs!
@kopper Though we can change this! Let's make Fedi nonTechie-friendly!
@kopper I may be somewhat guilty of this.
...technically it's an ActivityPub Activity, not a post; maybe I should call it a bundle of HTTP requests and responses though, at the lowest application layer, or go further to TCP/IP...
(My demo was helped by excessive web searching)
@WebCoder49 it's actually not an as:Activity
. on mastodon at least your posts are as:Note
objects. the activities only serve as notifications to other instances to as:Create
the note (or as:Update
or as:Delete
)
but instances can also load the objects directly without a need for the activity in cases where someone else may have replied, backfilling pinned posts, and so on.
@kopper Thanks for the clarification! I did the minimum amount of research and retrieval from my memory required to respond like that...
Now I've learned something new!
@kopper That makes more sense.
@kopper Mesopotamia has been a real problem lately tho, ngl.
@kopper@wetdry.world that's great but i'm using ubuntu and the people at canonical doing fuckery also touch grass so :/
@kopper you've clearly never ridden public transportation and had random conversations with strangers. It's the same phenomenon. That's the social part of 'social media' but so many of you hyperindividualistic weirdos are just anti-social and it shows.
@jonahgibberish @kopper so you hate waffles then
@jonahgibberish@kolektiva.social @kopper@wetdry.world erm, trvth nvke??
@me @jonahgibberish @kopper i have literally only seen this meme used in the The Campaign Trail discord server and adjacent servers so its weird seeing it on fedi
@kopper@wetdry.world i think it's funny when i get a reply on something i said and it's just "okay"
like what am i supposed to make or feel of that
@lexi some Mastodon Network replies have a special vibe only matched by those amazon reviews you see screenshots of that's just people going "idk i never used it sounds great 5 stars"
@lexi literally right after posting the original post i saw someone comment on news about a mesa update saying "idk i never needed it because i always bought nvidia" like OKAY???
@kopper@wetdry.world that doesn't even make sense
nvidia gpus can make use of mesa
