i've never used figma before but i made this in the last 2 hours because i was bored and i love the design style of windows phone apps
maybe i will make the profile page next
@jame
If you make it a real application, it'd be even better!
Bloat frontend works fine in old Edge, but a dedicated app would be perfect
@m0xee i have been getting the intrusive thought to buy a nokia lumia 520 and fool around with writing apps for it!! or perhaps the latest windows 10 mobile one would be more practical, but i love the look of 7/8
@jame a very easy way to detect that it's fake: I've used WP8 since 2014 (W10M since 2016) and until 2023 as my daily driver / only phone; I've used mastodon since 2018; and there were never any working clients in that time period, so I had to use stock mastodon frontend (later, when it started to require features only present in newer browsers, Pinafore; later, when that broke too, Sengi, up until 2023)
@jame god I miss this UI
@jame@wetdry.world honestly, nowadays i would prefer a windows phone like interface and design guideline for my mobile.
its simple and easy to understand.
@jame @maddiefuzz dammit making me sad all over again that of all the companies to come up with WP 8 (or Windows 8 for that matter) why'd it have to be Microsoft?
Come up with an interesting idea. I guess even MS can do that sometimes.
Screw it up a little bit. Everyone does that, no big deal.
Back away so fast they leave skidmarks when people complained. MS and Google, neck and neck for this prize.
@randomgeek @jame @maddiefuzz I liked Windows 8. It almost, almost convinced me that MS wasn't hot garbage as a company.
Boy did they soon set me straight.
@erosdiscordia @jame @maddiefuzz GNOME and Apple were basically making the same desktop at that point, everybody else (and their dog) had an old and busted desktop with a start menu. Microsoft was actually trying something new.
Plus I could tap the Windows key, start typing, and get a command. My actual usage remained unchanged.
@erosdiscordia
I have managed to get a couple of Windows phones (three to be accurate, but I have returned the original Lumia 800 as it had poor battery life), an Xbox, a couple of Windows licenses, a couple of Office licenses… while I was still being deceived. And I wasn't even a Windows user before that In fact, I've always hated their design decisions, and especially the fonts, Windows Phone and Window 8 were different enough for me to give them a chance.
@randomgeek @jame @maddiefuzz
@erosdiscordia
And when they have abandoned W10M it was time for me to jump ships again — I don't see the point in keeping using desktop Windows if there's no ecosystem around it.
And their idea of pairing it with Android was übercringe — Android looks too ugly after Windows 8-like interfaces
@randomgeek @jame @maddiefuzz
@jame @vaelfonia you need to see this
@jame Windows [Metro] 8 really was built different frfr
Unironically miss it
@LiquidParasyte it seems like a really intuitive design for phones/tablets just awful for traditional pc's. i love its use of color and especially the lowercase text for ui, that just screams early 2010s design to me lol
@jame thanks I hate it
@jame i once wrote a real fedi app for windows 10 mobile
@zebo oh that's awesome lol
@jame you fell of + erm... fake news + coolio
@SauceAndSpoon sorry that tim sweeney was more important than u for the mockup
@jame I hope you get smited of the world for your evil crimes ill be visiting you SOON
