I keep trying Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze because people keep talking about how it's one of the best 2D platformers ever but like

The controls suck ass

I don't know a better way to put it, man, I never feel 100% in control of Mr The Kong

So like yeah there's cool level design but it doesn't matter because I am always fighting at least a little bit to make the funny ape jump to the next ledge

Also there's a lot of presentational aspects that feel extremely cheap in an off-putting way

Basically I think the second Yooka-Laylee game is a better DKC game than this actual DKC game

Honestly I can't even point to what, specifically, about the controls is bad, there's just a general bad feeling while playing. Sometimes a jump just won't work properly, sometimes I can't turn around right, it's never even consistent, it's just a bunch of shit going wrong sometimes

@coriander sometimes a video game just feels bad

and that sometimes is oftentimes a DK game
